Traditionally used in almost every school, asphalt provides a very durable surface which requires minimal maintenance, and ensures play areas are kept in use all year round.
It also offers excellent opportunities for creativity- playground markings can be installed to provide a host of different activities and sports zones.
Asphalt surfacing is a very long lasting surface. If the top layer, or wearing course, becomes degraded over time, the base course is usually still perfectly stable. This means that a wearing course layer can be installed as an overlay using the existing surface as a base course, restoring playgrounds to a safe standard for a relatively low cost.
Asphalt is available in a range of colours. Also, the standard black surface can be painted with a specialist anti-slip coating in many different colours. Both options are a cost-effective way of creating sports pitches or zoning areas.
